Voice-Swap is excited to announce we’re partnering with BMAT, one of the world’s biggest music rights attribution and management companies on a new certification for AI models.

The certification is designed to ensure that no unauthorised copyrighted recordings are present within the training data of AI music models. It was conceived by the team of music industry veterans at Voice-Swap who brought the concept to BMAT for their unrivalled audio fingerprinting and tracking capabilities.

BMAT’s existing technology is used by over 5,000 companies and delivers 30 billion daily usage data points to performing rights organisations, publishers, record labels, broadcasters, digital service providers, artists and more. Its reputation as a neutral and trusted partner of global music industry bodies and rights holders puts it in a unique position to solve the attribution and provenance challenges that face AI and the music industry.

This new partnership between Voice-Swap and BMAT is the first step towards a future where AI and the music industry co-exist without exploiting artists, labels and rights holders. For that to happen, transparency is key. To achieve this new certification, companies must permit BMAT to reference their training data via an API against their audio database. The company can then confirm the legality and integrity of its training data, reassuring both users and partners and giving the company a commercial advantage.

Commenting on the partnership, Voice-Swap CEO Dan Stein aka DJ Fresh said: “We believe that AI should be beneficial to artists. This next-generation audio-screening certification could be the first step to solving the music industry's AI problems.”

BMAT’s founder and CRO Alex Loscos echoed this sentiment, stating:

“At BMAT, we’re driven to be pioneers at the intersection of music and technology. Our certification of training datasets is a major step forward –the first of many groundbreaking initiatives we have planned. We're excited to have found such a like-minded partner in Voice-Swap, who’s been instrumental in helping us bring this vision to life and who share our passion for transparency in music”.

Voice-Swap’s Chief Strategy & Impact Officer Michael Pelczynski also expressed enthusiasm: “We are thrilled to partner with BMAT to pioneer this groundbreaking certification program, which will set new standards for the ethical and legal utilisation of AI-generated voices.”

Voice-Swap’s Chief Creative Officer Benn Jordan added: "The only way AI music can be innovative, inspiring, or useful in any professional application is if artists are a core part of the business and models. I joined this team with the vision of proving that, and less than a year later we are not only the only BMAT-certified AI company, we've already made our artists income that many other AI companies never thought to pay them."

More info on how to apply for the certification will be announced soon.
